Welcome to the Protest Action Alert Network ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, live alerts feed, interactive maps, Telegram alerts, and any related services (collectively, the "Services").
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue using our Services.
Certain features of our Services, including but not limited to account registration, Google Authentication, and reporting active incidents, are restricted to users accessing the platform from within the Republic of South Africa. If you are accessing the Services from outside South Africa, you may only view the global map and public data feed. You represent and warrant that all information you provide during access or reporting is truthful and accurate.
The live alerts and heatmap data provided on this platform are crowdsourced and rely on third-party submissions. We do not independently verify, audit, or guarantee the safety, accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any report.
DO NOT put yourself, your passengers, or others in danger to capture media or file a report. Your physical safety is paramount. Under no circumstances should you approach, film, or interact with violent protests, barricaded roads, strikes, or civil unrest. Always prioritize law enforcement directives, official news broadcasts, and local emergency services.
When you submit an incident report (including title, description, location coordinates, and severity level), you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to publish, display, distribute, and modify your submission.

We reserve the right to review, edit, flag, or delete any user submissions at our sole discretion, and to permanently ban users who violate these guidelines.
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, REPRESENTATIONS, AND CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT MAP TILES AND ALERT Hotspots ARE COMPLETELY SAFE FOR TRAVEL.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE PROTEST ACTION ALERT NETWORK, ITS OPERATORS, ADMINISTRATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR PERSONAL INJURY, LOSS OF LIFE, VEHICLE DAMAGE, PROPERTY LOSS, TRAVEL DELAYS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICES OR THE ACCURACY OF PUBLIC REPORTS, REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY (CONTRACT, DELICT/TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE).
You agree not to scrape, crawl, index, or extract data from the interactive map, coordinates API, or alerts feed using automated systems (bots, spiders, or scrapers) without our prior written consent. You may not interfere with the proper functioning of the site, networks, or connected Telegram bot services.
These Terms of Service, your relationship with us, and any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the High Court of South Africa to resolve any legal disputes.
